The Makers Project
5HT worked with iconic London jewellery designer Ellie Mercer in the design and fabrication of the chess board and pieces. The design heroed her unique style with resin and metal.
The striking square chessboard combines new oak with polished brass and amber resin inspired by materials from The Balvenie distillery and the honey tones of The Balvenie whisky. The pieces are a sculptural expression of the game of kings and Mercer’s trademark craft of free-flowing resin. It is an elegant celebration of timeless British craftmanship that uses creativity to seamlessly bring together the old and the new.
